COVID-19 & BGCAA Operations

Safety remains Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County #1 priority, and we are doing everything possible to ensure members, their families, and our staff stay protected from the COVID-19 virus. Given the state of the pandemic in our community, BGCAA is open with the following modified guidelines in place:

  • Hours of operations with be Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm

  • Limited number of youth are served daily

  • Staff/youth ratio is 1:12

  • No program area will exceed 15 people, including staff and members

  • No groups will be combined in program or common areas

  • No groups will be combined for meal service

Upon this limited reopening, enhanced safety precautions for staff and members are as follows:

  • Daily Wellness Screenings: Parents/Guardians will be required to stay in their vehicle with the child(ren) to complete the verbal questionnaire. If a parent walks their child to the facility, they will be required to meet at the side or rear entrance to complete the wellness check. Parents/Guardians will be required to stay onsite until their child has passed the initial screening. All temperatures and answers to the questionnaire will be logged by staff.

  • Face masks are mandatory and must always be worn in the building, as well as outside if unable to socially distance (6ft).

  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols for frequently touched surfaces.

  • Required adherence to Social Distancing practices (6ft)

  • Washing hands often with soap and water, as well as using hand sanitizer during transitions.

We continue to monitor all updates from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Maryland Department of Health for updated information, and are advising all staff, families, and youth members to continue to take recommended precautions.

We realize that Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County is the only place that some of the families in our community can turn to when schools are closed. We are monitoring this diligently and will continue to operate with these limitations in place as long as we are able to provide a safe environment for young people. As always, we place the safety of our youth and staff at the highest level.

Please understand that even with these precautions in place, we are unable to guarantee there will not be exposure to COVID-19. We advise that you make any decisions for your family with this in mind.
