Teen Safe Driving Campaign
Sponsored by the Allstate Foundation

Thanks to a grant from the Allstate Foundation, almost a dozen teens from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BGCAA) were able to participate in an eight week workshop on Teen Safe Driving which culminated in the creation of a safe driving Public Service Announcement for teens. The first four weeks of the program included guest speakers from the Maryland State Police, the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving with topics such as Drinking and Driving, Distracted Driving and Driving Safe and Smart. The final four weeks provided teens with the tools and guidance needed to discuss, create, direct and produce a PSA about the importance of practicing safe driving.

This Winter BGCAA partnered with Filmsters to implement the Smart Drive: Safety in Motion/Going Forward Initiative sponsored by the Allstate Foundation. Club members ranging from the ages of 12 to 18 participated in planning and producing two 60 second PSA’s. The goal of initiative was to provide technical, editorial and visual arts training, experience and resources. The program trains Club member to become effective technology-users while creating new and innovative messages for the national Allstate “Teen Safe Driving Campaign” utilizing original public service announcement videos for web and social media distribution to teens across the US.
